Southampton Philharmonic Choir was founded in 1860, making it Southampton's longest-established music society. Our 150th anniversary concert includes two works that are great favourites with the choir. Dominic Muldowney's oratorio The Fall of Jerusalem, was commissioned jointly by Southampton Philharmonic Choir and the Leeds Festival Chorus for the Millennium. Many of our members said that the 2000 performance was the highlight of their choral singing careers, and we are greatly looking forward to performing the work again. The work features haunting saxophone solos, to be played by leading saxophonist John Harle. The main work will be Mozart's magnificent Requiem.
